Why is this play significant?

Despite being one of Alan Ayckbourn's favourite playwrights and major influences, this was the first time a play by Anton Chekhov had been produced by the company since it was founded in 1955.

Notes

○ The Seagull was originally scheduled to run for 16 performances from 1 May to 19 May. However, due to its popularity it returned for nine performances during the summer season from 6 - 16 June.
○ The Seagull marked the first time Alan Ayckbourn had directed a play by one of his favourite playwrights and influences, Anton Chekhov.
○ This was a production of Robert Hingley's translation of Chekhov's play.
