Why is this play significant?

The world premiere of a 'new' play by Anton Chekhov which saw the playwright's novel, Three Years, adapted for the stage by Frank Duane.

Notes

The Parasol was a new adaptation of Chekhov's novel Three Years by Frank Dunai.
When the play was submitted to the theatre for consideration, Alan Ayckbourn’e eye was apparently caught by a note which Frank Dunai had attached to the flyleaf saying: “Dear Alan, I am turning in my grave, love Anton.”
