Why is this play significant?

The acclaimed and award-winning American actor Judd Hirsch reprised his Tony Award winning role as Eddie in Alan Ayckbourn's acclaimed Scarborough production of the play which later transferred to the Old Vic, London. The set, which recreated the bar the play is set in, saw the front row of the round taken out and replaced with booths so anyone sat in the 'front row' was actually part of the play!

Notes

Conversations With My Father transferred to the Old Vic, London, in 1995 with the same company. Further details about the transfer can be found at Alan Ayckbourn's Official Website here.
The production starred American actor Judd Hirsch as Eddie making his British stage debut. Hirsch had previously won a Tony for this role in the 1992 Broadway revival.
