Why is this play significant?
Oleana is the first play by acclaimed American playwright David Mamet to be staged by the theatre in the round company in Scarborough. An intentionally divisive play, it was not a great success in Scarborough but continued to show a desire to produce challenging work at theatre as had been the intention of the company's founder in 1955.
