Why is this play significant?
Dragons Are Dangerous marked the playwriting debut at Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre of David Campton, who would go on to become the company's first resident playwright (not Alan Ayckbourn as is frequently assumed). David would be the only playwright to have at least one work a year performed every year for the entirety of Stephen Joseph's tenure as Artistic Director from 1955 to 1965.Notes
○ David Campton was a participant in one of Stephen Joseph's playwriting courses held at the Central School Of Speech And Drama, London.
○ David was the only male playwright to be included in the inaugural season of Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre.
○ Dragons Are Dangerous was performed without an interval.
○ David played an integral part in the first decade of Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre and was the theatre manager for the majority of the period. He is the only playwright to have had a play produced by the company every year for the first decade.
