Why is this play significant?
This is the first production to be presented under the auspices of Theatre in the Round Ltd after the company which founded Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre - Studio Theatre Ltd - moved to Stoke-on-Trent to found the UK's first professional theatre in the round venue. It's also the first play by Noël Coward to be produced by the Scarborough company.Notes
○ This production was the first to be presented by Theatre In The Round Ltd, which is something of a mystery within the history of the company. It was formed after Studio Theatre Ltd - the company which founded the Library Theatre in Scarborough - moved to a new permanent home at the Victoria Theatre, Stoke-on-Trent. Yet Theatre in the Round Ltd, incorporated by Stephen Joseph, only ran the company for two seasons before Scarborough Theatre Trust Ltd - again incorporated by Stephen Joseph - took over the running off the theatre. During this two year period, the company worked on a very restrictive budget as all of the Arts Council subsidy for Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre had gone to Stoke-on-Trent.
○ This is believed to be the first professional in-the-round production of Fallen Angels in the UK.
○ Fallen Angels was presented without an interval.
