The Complete Plays: Untitled Richard III Play (1975)
Note: Correspondence held in archive shows that Alan Ayckbourn asked the actress and writer Janet Dale to write a play based on the life of King Richard III for the summer of 1976 to tie in with the major Richard III festival taking place in Scarborough. It was intended this would be produced in both Theatre in the Round at the Library Theatre and around Scarborough. For reasons unknown, the play was cancelled and never written. This page contains what details are known about the production for historical research.

Notes
○ Although the proposed Richard III play was not written, there is no doubt the Richard III Festival did have some impact on the theatre. In 1977 Alan Ayckbourn wrote the play Ten Times Table and has noted its major influences were both the inordinate number of committee meetings he attended regarding the move of the company to a new home in 1976, as well as the organisation of the Richard III festival the previous year.
