Why is this play significant?

You Should See Us Now marked the playwriting debut of Peter Tinniswood, a successful writer for stage, screen and - in particular - radio. The play was the breakout success of the season at Scarborough and phenomenally popular. So popular in fact, it was the first play by the company to have a sequel commissioned, At The End of the Day in 1983, which was considerably less successful.
Notes
○ Although Peter Tinniswood had a successful career writing for stage, radio, television and prose, he is best known as a prolific writer for the radio. He is best remembered for his serials featuring Uncle Mort and the poacher Winston Hayballs which were later adapted for the play, The Village Fête.
○ Peter wrote three plays for the company stating with You Should See Us Now and followed by its sequel, At The End Of The Day (1983). He later adapted his acclaimed radio play, The Village Fête (1991) for the company.
