○ A Chorus Of Disapproval was dedicated to Tom Laughton, brother of the actor Charles Laughton, who was a long-standing and passionate supporter of the Stephen Joseph Theatre In The Round. Prior to his death on 14 March 1984 (aged 80), he was Chairman of Scarborough Theatre Trust.
○ Not well-known is the fact the original production was performed a double-revolve in-the-round (and conceived with that production in mind). It is rarely commented on that one of Alan Ayckbourn's most popular works has only ever been performed as it was originally written - with a revolve - this one time.
○ A Chorus Of Disapproval revolves around Pendon Amateur Light Operatic Society's production of John Gay's The Beggar's Opera and extracts from songs from this piece are performed during the play.
○ This play would become the first feature film to be adapted from an Ayckbourn play when Michael Winner came to Scarborough and did his utmost best to ruin the play. But we don't talk about that….
