Why is this play significant?
Woman in Mind is Alan Ayckbourn's first play to be told entirely from the perspective of its lead character, who never leaves the stage. It was his final play to be premiered at the theatre before he took a two year sabbatical to the National Theatre as a Company Director between 1986 and 1988. The play would go on to an award-winning West End run and later also found success in New York.Notes
○ Woman In Mind marked the acting debut of Barry McCarthy with the Scarborough company, beginning a professional relationship with the company and Alan Ayckbourn which would run until 2002.
