Why is this play significant?

The first full-length professional play of the award-winning writer Robert Shearman, who would have a number of plays produced in Scarborough. Robert would go on to to work on stage and screen, notably Dalek -the award-winning episode of the long-running BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who which reintroduced the famed monsters back to the screen after a break of 17 years. Robert is now best known as an award-winning and acclaimed prose writer.

Notes

Fool To Yourself was the playwright Robert Shearman’s first full-length play. Rob had previously had one act plays produced at the theatre - including White Lies - and would go on to have further one act and full-length plays debut in Scarborough.
