Why is this play significant?

It was the professional debut at the Stephen Joseph Theatre - and one of the earliest produced works - of the award-winning writer Torben Betts who would be the writer in residence at the SJT between 1999 and 2000. Torben would go on to a very successful career as a playwright and would write a number of produced plays for the SJT.

Notes

A Listening Heaven was the first play by Torben Betts to be commissioned and produced at the Stephen Joseph Theatre. Torben was the Resident Dramatist Attachement (writer-in-residence) at the venue between 1999 and 2000.
