Why is this play significant?
Alan Ayckbourn's classic comedy - it's not a farce despite the title! - produced for the first time in-the-round as originally intended. The world premiere production in 1975 had to be produced three-sided due to the size of the set and the playwright never got the chance to do it as intended. Also the first - and only - SJT production to be produced in both The Round and The McCarthy, the latter prior to an end-stage UK tour.Notes
○ Bedroom Farce is, as of writing, unique at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in that the same production was staged in both The Round and end-stage The McCarthy auditoria. The production's initial run was in The Round, but after a short break - and as a prelude to a end-stage tour - it was also performed in The McCarthy.
○ This was promoted as the 25th anniversary production of the play.
